Unlimited rare-answer game: one in a million beats obvious

Loading prompts…
▾

Seven prompts per round, as many rounds as you like. Name something that fits the prompt. Obvious answers barely count; rare ones send you off the charts.

An unlimited game like Krillion

If you love the daily rare-answer format made popular by Krillion but one dive a day isn’t enough, Outlier is for you. It uses the same kind of challenge (name something in a category and get rewarded for uncommon answers) with no daily limit. Finish a round and start the next one straight away.

Every prompt and every answer list on this site is written from scratch. We currently have 296 prompts across 7 themed packs, from hand-ranked lists like countries and capitals to letter puzzles such as “Name a country with the letter H in its name”.

How scoring works

Each prompt has a list of accepted answers, ranked from the one most people say to the one almost nobody says. Your score depends on where your answer lands:

TierWhere your answer sitsPoints
⬜ Crowd pick0–15% of the way from most to least common10
🟦 Familiar15–35% of the way from most to least common25
🟩 Uncommon35–60% of the way from most to least common50
🟨 Rare60–85% of the way from most to least common75
🟧 Outlier85–100% of the way from most to least common90
🌟 SupernovaThe one hand-picked “gem” answer for each prompt: obscure, but something a few people will actually think of100

A perfect round is 700 points. Typos and alternate names are accepted: “Holland” counts as the Netherlands and “Lichtenstein” is read as Liechtenstein.

FAQ

Is this Krillion Unlimited?

Outlier is an independent unlimited game in the same rare-answer genre. It isn’t the official Krillion. Our prompts and answer lists are our own, and there’s no cap on how many rounds you play.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no paywall, no limit on rounds. Your stats are saved in your own browser.

What does “one in a krillion” mean?

It’s a playful twist on “one in a million”. A krillion isn’t a real number; it just means an answer so rare almost nobody else would think of it. In our game the equivalent is a Supernova.

Can I play only geography, sports or movie prompts?

Yes. Pick a pack in the menu above, or open a pack page such as Geography, Sports or Movies & TV.

Is there a daily version?

Yes. The Outlier Daily gives everyone the same seven prompts each day, resetting at 00:00 UTC.
